Regent Parrot Ptolytelis anthopeplus (male), a beautiful but threatened parrot of southern Australia. This species inhabits south-western Western Australia and semi-arid parts of south-eastern Australia. In eastern Australia they have suffered the biggest declines, mostly due to habitat loss/fragmentation, illegal killing around fruit orchards, poor fire management and poaching for the illegal bird trade.
